Open Studio: Create a Small, Small Figure

During the last month of our Mary Blair exhibition, visitors created small, small figures in our not-so-small, small Open Studio! How did they do it?

The Presidio

Claimed by the United States government in 1846, the Presidio of San Francisco operated as an active Army base and the Pacific Coast’s strongest coastal defense until 1994. As a California Historical Landmark since 1933 and National Historic Landmark since 1962, the Presidio now serves as a national park.

One of our most valuable artifacts is Walt’s voice. The museum is designed so that Walt himself is the narrator, taking you through his life. In this spirit, Storyboard aims to present Walt’s own words, on a variety of topics, regularly. As we celebrate our fifth anniversary this month, we'd like to share the insights Walt had on his knowledge of art and feelings about art galleries, as relayed to journalist Pete Martin in an interview, ca. 1956.
